Taking a jibe at the Congress and the BSP, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that when the Congress was soliciting the help of poll pundit Prashant Kishor, Bua ji (read Mayawati) was helping Samajwadi Party by propagating development works of the UP government as BSP’s schemes.
"If Congress has got PK, we have got Bauji, who is now claiming that all our projects including lucknow Metro and Agra-lucknow Expressway were originally their projects. If these projects were launched by the BSP in 2008, why did the then government not complete it by 2012, after which they were voted out of power," the CM querried.
“We are happy at the BSP’s claim as this is giving us free publicity. People know that these projects have come up under the SP regime and would be functional by the end of 2016,” he said.
Yadav, who was addressing a function ' UP Budget 2016-17 : A panel Discussion' in lucknow on Friday, lashed out at the BSP saying a private company which constructed the Yamuna Expressway during its rule went kaput financially suffering a loss of Rs 60,000 crore.
The CM said that while parks made by the present regime are providing fresh oxygen to the people of lucknow and other places, the memorials and parks made during the BSP regime were only emanating 'heat'.
“Our Janeshwar Mishra Park is better than the Hyde Park of london. Bollywood producers are coming here for shooting of their films. Can anyone think of the memorials built by BSP for shooting films in the month of April, May and June,” he said.
He also announced that the UP government will plant 5 crore saplings in the next two months across the state to improve the environment.
Stressing the need for improving infrastructure, the CM said that good and broad roads are required in the state. “If we don't address the transportation system and do not provide good roads, we will be forced to go for the 'odd and even' system formula as being practised in Delhi," Yadav said.
