Congress set to organisze Interaction Program with workers

PNS

After being in political wildeness in Uttar Pradesh for the last three decades, the Congress is set to show its strength by organising an Interaction Program with workers at Rambai Sthal in Ashiyana on Friday.

Party sources claimed that over one lakh Congress workers and leaders would attend the day-long session which will be attended by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra. The sole objective of the program is to send out a strong message about the party's revival in state to the rank and file.

Interestingly, this will be the first time that the Congress has selected Ram Bai Sthal for any program. If the party manages to fill the masive ground by its workers and functionaries, it would be an ample message to the Opposition parties on the party's resurgence.

UP Congress Media Committee chairman Satyadev Tripathi said on Friday that over 1 lakh workers would attend the interactive session with Rahul Gandhi and other leaders on Friday noon. Congress will be the second party in UP to go for interaction with booth-level workers after the BJP organised such programs in six phases early this month.

Meanwhile, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi will flag off a mega three-day road show by the slogan '27 saal, UP behaal' from the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday. During the 600 km show, the party will hold a series of road-side meetings with leaders addressing the people enroute.

Tripathi said that the road show would have leaders like AICC general secretary and in-charge of UP Gulam Nabi Azad, UPCC chief Raj Babbar, CM face Sheila Dixit, campaign committee chairman Dr Sanjay Singh and other senior leaders.

He said that the road show would start from New Delhi and would cross Ghaziabad, Hapur, Amroha and Moradabad where leaders will halt for the night. "On Sunday, it will cross Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly  to reach Shahajahanpur where the participants will have a night halt. On Monday, the road show will head to Hardoi covering Kannauj and will end at Kanpur where a public meeting is slated," said he.

"These road shows will make people of UP aware of the failures and misgovernance by successive non-Congress governments in UP during the last 27 years," asserted Tripathi.

Meanwhile, UPCC chief Raj Babbar has that the old state committee of Nirmal Khatri would continue to function till further orders.
