The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that the Congress protest over demonetisation on Wednesday has been a flop show as people cold shouldered the Congress call to gherao RBI office in lucknow.
“The response of the Congress protest was so poor that its leaders decided to call it off mid-way,” BJP spokesman Rakesh Tripathi said in a statement issued in lucknow on Wednesday.
He said that theparty which had lost its base in UP has now realized where it stands after its much-hyped ‘27 Saal, UP Behal’ campaign failed to take off and it decided to piggy ride on Samajwadi Party.
“The party which earlier had promised to raise people’s concerns are now siding with black marketers by raising the demonetisation issue,” the BJP spokesman said.
Tripathi said, “ PM Narendra Modi’s decision to cull high value notes will prevent use of black money during elections. The clean elections will help in projecting people with clean image, which is a good sign for democracy.”
