Congress is likely to face embarrassment after a murder case has been registered against Keshav Babu Shivhare, the party’s official candidate from Hamirpur assembly by-election slated on September 13. The Party is now finding whether Shivhare would face any legal hurdle in fighting the elections as they had to immediately take a decision as Wednesday is the last day of filing nomination.
Reports said that a FIR under section 302 of the IPC for murder has been registered against Shivhare and his munim (clerk) in the Kotwali police station at Hamirpur on the directive of Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Krishna.
As per the police report, Shivhare, who owns Sundaram Stone crusher, had lynched a labourer Kallu Yadav(24) on Mondayevening. The case was registered after the family members of the deceased met the SP and demanded action against the Congress leader. SP Ramkrishna, said that the police was investigating the case and did not ruled out arrest of the Congress candidate.
Meanwhile Congress leaders have expressed conspiracy behind the lodging of murder case against the party candidate from Hamirpur. “The ruling Samajwadi Party was responsible for the conspiracy to defame the Congress before the crucial by-election,” state congress media committee chairman, Satyadev Tripathi claimed while reacting on naming of Shivhare in a murder case.
