Congress created ruckus in UP Assembly

Congress members on Tuesday created a ruckus in the UP Assembly over the recovery of explosives in the House on July 12. Opposition members forced Speaker Hriday Narain Dikshit to accept their demand for a discussion on the issue. The Speaker said that the matter will be discussed in the meeting of Business Advisory Committee and later a debate in the House could be allowed.

As the House assembled for the day, Congress legislature Party leader Ajay Kumar lalu raised the matter of recovery of plastic explosive from the House and demanded that a discussion be held but the Speaker rejected his notice.

lalu said that it was a matter of serious concern that the explosive was recovered from a place which is out of bounds for all except MlAs, ministers and staff of the Assembly.  He said that it was also intriguing that CCT^V cameras installed in the premises of the Assembly were found to be out of order.

The Congress member demanded that instead of probe by the National Investigation Agency, a sitting judge of the High Court should investigate the matter.

As the Speaker refused permission, Congress MlAs trouped into the Well of the House. Annoyed by the conduct of Congress meembers, the Speaker termed it as ‘an act of indiscipline’ and said that the Congress legislators were acting in an undemocratic manner by coming to the Well.

However, leader of the Opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary came to the rescue of Congress members and supported their demanded for a debate in the House over the issue. He said that so far the government has not shared information related to the recovery and follow-up investigation by UP Police and National Investigation Agency.

“Members have the right to know about the incident as it is directly related to their security,” Chaudhary said. He also supported the Congress member’s protest in the Well of the House.  He said that the Speaker should not object to members   coming to the Well of the House as BJP members behaved in the same manner when the party was in Opposition.

BSP leader lalji Verma too supported the Congress members. After a 15-minute commotion in the House, the Speaker accepted the Opposition’s demand for holding a discussion in the House over the recovery of the explosive.
