To counter door-to-door campaign of the AAP leader Kumar Vishwas who is spreading misappropriation of funds and underdevelopment issues in Amethi, Congress will now launch 'Vikas Janchetna Padyatra' in all 16 blocks of Rahul Gandhi's Parliamentary constituency. The leaders of the Congress would travel on foot to create awareness about the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's work, projects launched in Amethi and that how rapid the constituency progressed under Rahul Gandhi .
"In all the 16 development blocks of Amethi, the three-day long padyatra would be taken out from coming Saturday. The party workers would move to rural areas to apprise the locals about Rahul's message and present the achievements of the 10 years of the Manmohan Singh government at the Centre," disclosed senior Congress leader who already organised several welfare camps in the Constituency. He claimed that they were trying that Party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, who is also local MP would also take part in the yatra on one of the days.
The leader further claimed that the Yatra has been also taken out on directions of Rahul Gandhi, who wanted that every citizen of his Parliament constituency should also know the welfare schemes taken up by the Central government. He claimed that besides some senior Congress leaders, the members of Youth Congress, Sewa Dal and National Students Union of India (NSUI) will participate in the yatra.
It may be mentioned that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Vishwas is also undertaking extensive tours of villages to seek people's support for the lok Sabha elections. Though his candidature is still to be finalised by his party leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, but it alarmed the Congress leaders who feared that if the AAP leader managed to transform the anger of the local public into votes as well as consolidates all the opposition votes than a repeat of 1977 emergency like situation when than prime minister Indira Gandhi lost her Parliament seat from Rae Bareli, would be repeated in Amethi.
