Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tried to turn table on proposed BSP-SP alliance when he questioned as who would be the leader of the Front but leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Ram Govind Chaudhry came up a reply saying Akhilesh would be the CM candidate while Mayawati would be Prime Ministerial candidate for the alliance.

The rebuttal was quick and came during a talk show organized by a private news channel in lucknow.

Earlier in the day Chief Minister had said that the proposed alliance between the SP and the BSP was opportunistic one. “There would be confusion on leadership issue. The alliance leaders should come clean and tell people as who would be head this alliance in 2019,” Yogi said.

In the afternoon, during a debate between Jagdambika Pal (BJP) and Ram Govind Chadhry (SP) the later said that there was no confusion. “Akhilesh would be the CM candidate while the alliance will promote Mayawati as Prime Ministerial face of the pact,” he said.

This statement however would raise many an eyebrows because the Congress, which is also likely to be part of this alliance, has already made Rahul Gandhi as UPA’s Prime Ministerial face who will challenge NDA’s Narendra Modi. SP spokesman is silent on this development as Rajendrta Chaudhry said that whar Ram Govind Chaudhry had said could be correct.

Meanwhile, CM in his speech said that UP has marched on the path of development in this one year. He claimed UP is now mafia free, goonda free and corruption free state. “Reflection of Government’s achievement was visible on February 21 and 22 when top industrialists from the country attended the Investors’ Meet,” he said.
