With chief minister Akhilesh Yadav visited Moradabad and Sambhal to condole the death of Party MlA Haji Irfan and KP Yadav, who died in a road mishap on last Thursday, local administration in Badaun reportedly initiated a magisterial inquiry on charges of negligence in providing quick treatment to the injured on the fateful day.

An official communiqué of the State government confirmed that Akhilesh Yadav first visited Irfan’s residence in Moradabad on Saturday morning and paid his condolences. He also the met the family members and console them on the occasion. Yadav last also addressed a meeting called to pay homage to the MlA and other who died in the mishap.

Akhilesh later went to another SP leader KP Yadav’s residence in Sambhal, who also died in the same mishap. Remembering both the leaders, Yadav said that both are known to be honest, hard-working and always devoted for welfare of the public and development of the area. Paying his tribute to both the departed leaders, Yadav said that his government is with the family members of the bereaved in this moment of sorrow and assured that all the works which were taken up by them and remained unfinished due to sad demise of the local MlA and one another SP leader, would be completed by the Samajwadi Party. Besides Akhilesh Yadan, state minister Abhisekh Mishra and MP Dharmendra Yadav were also present during the condolence meeting. Irfan, who represented Bilari Assembly seat, was on his way to attend the marriage of son of senior cabinet minister Shivpal Singh Yadav in Saifai in Etawah district when his vehicle overturned and fell into a ditch on last Thursday.

The legislator later succumbed to his injuries while SP leader KP Yadav and driver Farzad Ali were killed on the spot. Meanwhile District Magistrate of Badaun, Shambhunath, who conducted a preliminary inquiry into alleged lapses, directed ADM Ashok Kumar Srivastava to submit his probe report within 15 days. The DM said that after a complaint was received in connection with death of the MlA in Moradabad, he conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital and inquired about the process of admission of critical patients.   Shambhunath said he received complaints that the MlA was administered “injections containing steroid, which led to internal bleeding”.

He said the cylinder present in the ambulance allegedly did not have oxygen and life saving drugs were missing. The DM said the inquiry against the hospital administration will cover 30 points.

Meanwhile, opposition BJP attacked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, saying his “tall claims” of better health and ambulance services in the state have been exposed by the incident. “The ambulance, which carried the injured MlA, lacked proper kit. Haji Irfan’s relatives have claimed that if oxygen had been available, the MlA’s life could have been saved,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Saturday.
