To facilitate the services of the ambitious `1090-Women Power line’ project to illiterate women and those from the weaker sections, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has planned to nominate 2 lakh girl students as `Special Police Officer’. Their services will serve to forward women's voice facing excesses and harassment but do not know how to seek justice.

The plan coined `Power Angel’ will empower these girl students to take up the fight of other women / girls in getting the culprits punished.  The plan will also help the government in checking crime against the poor and weaker section of the society.

To kick off his plan, the CM will hand over nomination certificate directly to 25 girl students at a function at lok Bhawan on Friday afternoon. Earlier too, the UP Police had appointed SPOs but their services were mostly taken during law and order problem and were never used to check excesses on the fairer sex.

An release on Thursday confirmed that  the illiterate and weaker section women had no knowledge on how to make a complaint on the Power line or could not muster courage for the same.

To facilitate such women, theCM has decided that girl students willing to help government in it’s mission to forward justice to the fairer sex, whould be appointed as SPO. These SPO will keep a close eye on harassment of women and girls in their respective colleges, schools, native places along with any kind of excesses made on the women. These SPO will just call the Women Power line and inform about excesses and the rest will be done by cops, the release said.
