CM should give up Home portfolio: BJP MPs

PNS
Continuing its tirade against Samajwadi Party Government a high level team of BJP MPs said that as jungle raj prevails in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should relinquish Home Ministry portfolio as he has failed to improve law and order in the state.
“Akhilesh Yadav has failed to deliver so he should leave the Home Ministry to any other efficient person of his party as he has no time and intention to improve law and order situation,”  leader of the committee Ashwini Chaubey  told reporters here on Tuesday. The team of BJP MPs comprising Choubey,  senior counsel  and MP from Delhi Meenakashi lekhi, MP from Rajasthan Arjun Meghwal and Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand and senior journalist M J Akbar visited Barabanki and met the family members of a woman who was allegedly set on fire inside police station.
“It seems UP is ruled by ruffians and police has been given a free hand to persecute innocent people. It is nothing but a jungle raj,” Chaubey said.
Though the BJP team equated situation in UP equivalent to Jungle raj and said situation here is worse then in Bihar but they refused to demand imposition of President’s rule in the state. “We believe in democratic set up and the Constitution hence BJP will fight the issue through democratic way,” Meenakshi lekhi said. The team which went to Barabanki found misuse of power by the police and direct political interference in the matter. “ People in Kothi area are living in fear due to the terror unleashed by the  accused Station Officer (SO) and Sub-Inspector (SI),” BJP leaders said.
In their preliminary report the BJP team demanded that the policemen should be arrested immediately beside a CBI probe as demanded by the family members. lekhi said that the police claim the said woman had committed suicide. If that is so, why government has paid Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family membersIJ. Is the government paying compensation to families whose family members commit suicide in UP or it is just trying to shut the mouth of the Kothi victim family,” she asked. She demanded that the government should disclose its compensation policy.
“Why is there such disparity in paying compensation. In DSP Zia-ul-Haq’s murder the government gave  Rs 40 lakh compensation to the family, in scribe Jagender’s case it paid Rs 30 lakh and now in a suicide case it give Rs 5 lakh,” she said. “There is an open nexus between the criminals and  land mafias in the state,” she claimed adding that in 2015 a over 3000 cases against women atrocities have been reported in UP. The team will submit its final report to BJP president very soon.
