Buckling under pressure Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered a high level inquiry into the scuffle between junior doctors and police in Kanpur leading to an indefinite strike at all the government hospital in the state for the last three days.

"This is a serious issue. Doctors’ prime responsibility is to save the lives of the people. I appeal to doctors to return to work for the sake of patients. An enquiry has been ordered and it would bring the truth to the fore," Yadav told reporters here on Monday.

CM said that Kanpur Divisional Commissioner would probe the entire matter and the guilty, whosoever it may be, would not be spared.

"I am told the entire area is covered by CCTV. A delegation of doctors and police officials should view that. It will help in identifying the real culprit," he said and added that the government was sensitive on the matter and was monitoring the incident very carefully.

He also questioned as why some political parties throwing their weight behind this incident. "A party which failed to give governance for even 50 days in Delhi has declared its support in favour of doctor’s agitation. Such outsiders have aggravated the situation," he said.

The strike of Juniors doctors continued for the third day in protest against the arrest of 25 junior medicos of lala lajpat Rai hospital in Kanpur city. Junior doctors of medical colleges in Gorakhpur, Agra, Etawah, Allahabad, Meerut and lucknow have also joined the strike.

The doctors of lala lajpat Rai government hospital, also known as Hallet hospital, had gone on strike after 25 of their colleagues were arrested in a violent scuffle with supporters of ruling Samajwadi Party legislator Irfan Solanki on Friday night.

Meanwhile, a delegation of junior doctors would meet President of India in New Delhi on Tuesday.
