CM orders invoking of NSA against misbehaving Jamaatis

Acting tough on complaints of isolated Tablighi Jamaat members misbehaving with women paramedics at a Ghaziabad hospital on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked the authorities to invoke National Security Act (NSA) against six accused.

Terming them enemies of humanity, Yogi said on Friday, ‘They (accused) will not obey the law neither will they accept the system as they are enemies of humanity. What they have done to women health workers is a heinous crime and they should be slapped with NSA. We will not spare them.”

The chief minister further directed officials that no woman health worker or police officer/personnel should be deployed in service of quarantined Tablighi Jamaat members.

“Woman officers and workers should not be deployed to treat and provide security to quarantined Tablighi Jamaat members. Only male health staff and cops will be posted in wards having Jamaat members,” said a statement issued by the state government on Friday.

The development came a day after an FIR was registered against six members of Tablighi Jamaat who are quarantined at MMG District Hospital in Ghaziabad. The six Jamaatis walked around the ward without their trousers and made lewd gestures towards nurses.

These Tablighi Jamaat members were taken for check-ups at city hospitals in Ghaziabad and they misbehaved with police and government officials and also with others hospitalised there.

The Ghaziabad authorities have so far quarantined 156 Tablighi Jamaat members and attempts are on to trace others they contacted after attending a religious congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin in mid-March.

Chief Medical Officer of Ghaziabad, Dr NK Gupta, said that 90 people were quarantined at Sunder Deep Collage hospital, 56 at Surya Hospital in Murad Nagar and five each at MMG Government Hospital and another hospital in Sanjay Nagar.
