CM issues order to various dept for co-ordial work

Biswajeet, PNS

With an aim to improve basic facilities in urban areas the Akhilesh Yadav Government has issued a Government Order asking different departments to work in a co-ordinated manner so the benefit could reach the masses.

“Despite the urban bodies getting self-governance status, the facilities available to people are still inadequate due to lack of coordinated planning. These shortcomings should be overcome under all circumstances,” Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan told Divisional Commissioners in a direction issued here on Thursday.

Chief Secretary said that scientific and planned development is not taking place in urban areas owing to the absence of mutual coordination of urban bodies with other units causing inconvenience to general public.

Ranjan said that the issues which could be resolved at the local level should not be referred to the government unnecessarily.

“In case of dispute among the departments related to providing civic facilities first the District Magistrate should try to resolve it at local level. If DM fails, the Divisional Commissioner should settle the issue as per the rules. If still matter remains unresolved it should be sent referred to the government,” he said.

“Divisional Commissioners should review the action taken by development authorities, U.P. Awas  and Vikas Parishad, Jal Nigam, Jal Sansthan, municipal corporations, municipality boards and Nagar Panchayats, District Urban Development Authorities and U.P. Power Corporation on monthly basis. The District Magistrates and Senior Superintendent of Police should attend these meetings so that the issues could be addressed timely,” Ranjan said in his communication.

He said stringent action should be taken against sub-standard infrastructure development and lack of coordination among departments during surprise inspection by Divisional Commissioners.
