In an attempt to make inroads into 55 lakh families, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written to all beneficiaries of Samajwadi Pension Yojana asking them to utilise this money in educating children and giving a good life to them.
In his letter, the CM wrote: "Healthy, happy and self dependant women are the key to any state’s progress. If the women are happy then the state is blessed. The SP government is trying to bring smiles on the faces of women."
Yadav sought help from the women to make the Samajwadi Pension scheme a success. "Through this scheme we have attempted to empower women. The money they get, should be used on the education of children and ensuring a good life to them," Yadav wrote.
He informed the beneficiaries that they are entitled for free health check-ups and vaccination of children less than 5 years of age. The beneficiaries are also entitled to free delivery in state-run hospitals. "The ANMs and Asha Bahus whould visit the beneficiaries regularly and enquire about their problems," Yadav said
The CM also spoke about education of children and urged the women to send their children to schools.
"Education is free in government schools. The children are entitled to free meal and books. If someone is illiterate, he should be sent to the Saksharta Kendra," he said.
Yafav declared that the government can increase the monthly pension to Rs 750 but this is possible only if women take care of education and health issues of children.
