Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that he had set a target of making Uttar Pradesh the number one economy of the country in the next six years.
He was addressing the newly-selected naib tehsildars through UPPSC after distributing them appointment letters in Lucknow on Friday.
“Today’s Uttar Pradesh is among the top two states preferred for investment in the country. The state has sprung from number six to number two position in the last four-and-a-half years, in terms of economy, and now it has to be brought to the first position. I hope that with everyone's cooperation, Uttar Pradesh will be the state with the largest economy of the country in the next six years,” Yogi said.
Stating that merit was the only criterion for getting a job in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister also launched a scathing attack on the previous governments, charging that earlier there used to be discrimination and corruption everywhere in the appointment process.
He further said that many youths who were getting appointment letters today must have appeared for several examinations even before 2017 but they were deprived of jobs due to the corrupt system and wrong intentions and policies of the previous governments, forcing them to migrate to other states.
“As soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power, we made it clear that no decision would be taken on the basis of caste, creed, religion, village and district or by looking at faces in the appointments. Today, merit is the sole criterion for getting a job in the state. As a result, 4.5 lakh government jobs have been provided without any allegation of corruption or favoritism in a single recruitment in the BJP regime,” he said.
Expressing satisfaction over the changed image of the state, the chief minister said, “Before 2017, people were afraid to come here. Justice was not delivered to the people. Today, people are being selected for government jobs in a completely transparent manner. Every person is getting a place according to his or her ability. Recommendations are no longer required. Honesty and transparency are key elements of this new work culture.”
Yogi also advised the selected officers to fulfill their duty with sincerity.
“Whether starting any development project or resolving the family issues related to common man, the role of the naib tehsildar is important,” he said.
Mentioning the increasing digitisation in the Revenue department as useful in public interest, the chief minister appreciated the functioning of the department.
In the programme, Minister of State for Revenue, Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar, also gave a brief description of the departmental activities.
