In a shocking incident, a Class VIII student in Meerut has refused to go to school after a local goon, who has been allegedly harassing her for six months, has now also threatened her with an acid attack.
Police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the girl’s family and claimed to have launched a manhunt to nab him.
The family from the Lisadi Gate area alleged that the man was threatening to kidnap their daughter if she did not make friends with him. When the girl refused the friendship offer, he threatened to pour acid on her. She is now refusing to go to school, according to the family.
Taking immediate cognisance of the complaint, the police registered an FIR against the accused. Incharge of the local police station, Arvind Chaurasia, said the accused youth was absconding and the police were interrogating his brother to know the whereabouts of the accused.
Chaurasia said the accused would be arrested at earliest and sent to jail.
The family would be provided security to avert any untoward incident, he added.
