Centre has cleared 222 posts for internal promotion of the officers of Uttar Pradesh cadre of Indian Police Services (IPS) in 2018. Now the state government could promote officers to senior rank as and when vacancy has been created during next year.
Sources said that the Centre had allowed a total of 222 promotion of IPS officers of UP cadre during 2018 according to which, three officers could be promoted to director general (DG) rank, 11 officers could be promoted to Additional Director General (ADG) rank, 36 to inspector general (IG) rank, 65 officers to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank and 65 officers to Selection Grade. State government now not to have seek permission of the government and it went on promoting as soon as the vacancy has been created due to retirement of any officer.
