To keep a check on pollution, the leather park will be equipped with an effluent treatment plant. For setting up units in the park, industrial plots ranging from 4,000 square metres to 10,000 square metres will be provided to the investors. A world-class system for exporting leather products will also be established in the park. Official sources said the leather park would give a new identity to the industrial city of Kanpur Nagar that had a predominant position in the leather industry.
The other cities of UP having leather industry are Agra and Unnao.
The leather business of Kanpur has been in crisis for some time and this led the government to work on the plan for setting up a leather park and mega leather cluster project to give a boost to the leather industry of Kanpur.
