Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi slammed prime minister and claimed that he is proud to be an Indian like every other countrymen but alleged that the Centre as well as the state government was biased towards the people of Amethi constituency. “I am a proud Indian like any other countrymen,” he commented over the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign visit during when he said that earlier people born in India repelled that why they were born in this country. The PM had further said that now after BJP government came they are happy. “People have already started commenting on the statement and I only want to say that I am a proud Indian like others,” he said.
Congress Vice-President talking to media persons here at the Amausi airport on Wednesday afternoon after winding up his three days visit to Amethi, continued his criticism on the BJP government claiming that only 5-6 industrialists have been benefited by this government while the others including farmers and common people are facing the trouble. The Congress leader again raked up the biased attitude of the Centre as well as the UP government over the backwardness of Amethi.
“Today I chaired a meeting of the Amethi district vigilance and monitoring committee where representatives of all the political parties said that the governments were biased towards the region. Whether it is PMSY, MGNREGA or Indira Awas, the Amethi area has been neglected,” he said. Gandhi said that Centre was taking revenge against me.” I want to convey to the Centre that if they want to take revenge then they should take against me and not with the people of Amethi,” he said while again raked up the Mega Food Park issue. Repeating his allegation of “suit-boot ki sarkar”, Rahul asserted that the present government is not that of poor and farmers. “I want to repeat what I said in Parliament...this government is not for the poor, farmers and weaker people but of selected industrialists, a handful of those who are near the Prime Minister and all their works are being done,” he said. “Farmers are cyring, they are not getting compensation for (losses due to) hailstorm, not getting right price for their produce, got lathis when they asked for fertilizers,” he said.
Gandhi, however, refused to make any comment on the Akhilesh Yadav government or whether he is ready to go to jail over the farmers issue. Rahul has already written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking revival of the mega food park project in his constituency, on Tuesday. Earlier Rahul Gandhi on the last day of his Amethi visit chaired the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting. For the past two days, Gandhi had lambasted the Narendra Modi government and even gave this NDA government zero mark on its one year term. The Congress vice- president left for New Delhi from lucknow Airport by a Service flight.
