lokayukt (retd) Justice, NK Mehrotra reportedly went ahead with registration of case to initiate further legal proceedings against Dr Sangeeta Aneja and two other senior bureaucrats, who had facilitated the lady doctor to became acting principal of Medical College in Saharanpur, even when she failed to meet eligibility criteria.
Sources said that Mehrotra, who sought details from Medical Council of India, whether the rules were violated to appoint Dr Sangeeta Aneja as principal of proposed medical college in Saharanpur, received reply after which he initiated further proceedings in the matter. Sources said that MCI had reportedly informed Mehrotra that there is no other rule for acting or temporary principal of medical college than what laid for a full time person for the same job. Soon after receiving this, Mehrotra, who was earlier informed by the government that anyone could be appointed as acting principal and that the person not required the same experience as needed for a full time principal, had found open violating of laid norms and get a case registered against Dr Sangeeta Aneja, along with then principal secretary (medical education) JP Sharma and special secretary (medical education) Subash Chandra.
It may be mentioned that a complaint has been made that state government overlooked the laid norms to facilitate Sangeeta Aneja principal of Medical College in Saharanpur. She was also working as professor in Meerut Medical College but had not completed five years term as professor which said to be mandatory for appointment of the post. Sources said that NK Mehrotra had sought a report in this regard from special secretary (Medical Education), Subash Chandra who reportedly replied that a temporary principal can be made without completing five years as professor. However, according to reports, Mehrotra, who had doubts, sought a report from the MCI that whether the posting has been made as per the rules or norms were over looked by the government. It may be mentioned that Aneja’s husband is also working on two posts, one as Additional Director in Medical Education in lucknow and other as Head of Medicine Department in Meerut Medical College.
