BSP to go it alone in lS polls: Maya

Pioneer News Service, PS

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo ruled out possibility of alliance with any political party during the coming Parliament elections and claimed that her Party is going to benefit out of inner difference within the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

I wanted to make it very clear that we will fight alone", Mayawati disclosed to put end to rumour mills that BSP is going to have truck with any other political outfit in the coming lok Sabha polls. She claimed that people had fed up with both Congress and BJP as well as Samajwadi Party (SP) here in UP so BSP is all set to do well. She claimed that leaders are trying to misguide the public over her

Party’s alliance just to damage the prospect of BSP in the coming elections. She said to hold meeting with Party leaders on Sunday to discuss poll strategy. BSP supremo said that they were also going to benefit out of infighting within the BJP. lK Advani, Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh were trying to outdo each other and this would only work in favour of my Party in achieving its target to a great extent," she said adding that they will remain on top in UP in the Parliament elections.  "I have full faith in the people of the state and all the workers of the party," she said.

Mayawati said that before lok Sabha polls BSP was contesting Assembly elections in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh independently. She claimed that  she would visit the four states soon, but the dates would be announced later.  She alleged the Samajwadi Party government in the state has failed to maintain law and order and was triggering riots in connivance with the BJP.

"As the time of lok Sabha elections come nearer, SP and BJP, in a bid to give political advantage to each other as a part of tacit understanding, will vitiate atmosphere by spreading communal poison," she alleged. She reiterated her demand of President's rule in the state.

Terming as "dramatics" the yatras organised by SP to include 17 backward castes into Scheduled Caste, the BSP supremo said like the VHP the party should apologise to OBCcommunity for issuing  a government order in its previous regime which deprived them of reservation facility.   She said that before lok Sabha elections an attempt was being made to create an atmosphere in the country that there was no parties other than Congress or BJP, which was not right

She said that in reality both the parties were not the main choice of the people as they have tested them and felt disappointed.  "BJP people are making tall announcements of resolving big problems before the country in their rallies by assembling crowd of ticket goers. Why didn't they do so when the party was in power for six years," Mayawati said while taking a dig at the saffron brigade.  She claimed the people in UP were feeling harassed by increasing crime and riots.   She said that until and unless peace is not restored trade and industry could not flourish and UP would continue to remain a backward state.  The BSP supremo said that by distributing laptops and unemployment allowance to some would not ensure the welfare of the society.

Reacting sharply to a query on  Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's allegations that BSP president did not allow any Dalit leadership to emerge, Mayawati retorted saying no one stopped Congress from doing so.  "Who has stopped Congress from letting Dalit leadership emerge," she said adding that "they can let no one but thousands of leaders to emerge".   To another question, she said that her party has extended support to the Congress led UPA government at the centre to keep communal forces away and it should not be taken as if the ideology of her party is similar to that of Congress or SP (which also supports the centre).

Mayawati also ruled out any immediate action against MP Dhananjay Singh, arrested along with his wife in connection with the murder of their maid in Delhi, saying the party would wait for the law to take its course. We are looking as to what action is being taken legally against him...when law takes a final decision with regard to him we will also take action," she replied.

BSP supremo also hit out at media after being irked by controversy over allotmentof bungalows to her party in Delhi. "After a long struggle we got two additional Type-Vbungalows as per the rules which were merged to extend Bahujan Prerna Kendra on an area of about one-and-a-half acre of land, but a section of electronic media and some newspapers are showing it as a big news that we have got a big piece of land from the central government," Mayawati clarified while accusing media for projecting it Rs wrongly’. She said that as the land on which the Kendra was earlier set up was not enough to house all things connected with the memory of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, a request for adjoining two bungalows was made as per rules and they were later madeavailable.

"Earlier too lands were provided for memorials and museums of other leaders, but newspapers and TV channels have not gone after them. This only proves their  media's) anti-Dalit mentality," she said while accusing the media of making attempts to tarnish her image before the coming elections. "Some of the newspapers are showing unfounded news about the property of my brothers and sisters although I have nothing to do with it....whereas nothing of the sort is said in the case of other leaders...if this is not anti-Dalit mentality then what is it," she asked.
