Agitated with dismantling of a boundary wall of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal to ease the route to `Janeshwar Mishra Park’ in Gomatinagar, BSP leaders sat on an indefinite  dharna on the spot on Thursday morning.

The sit on led by leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly, Swami Prasad Maurya and hundreds of agitated party workers which threatened to create a major law and order situation for the district administration. The angry protestors raised slogans against the SP government.

later Maurya told media persons that bulldozing the boundary wall was an insult to dalit icon, Dr B R Ambedkar and termed it as a political conspiracy against the community in UP.

Officials of the lDA, who demolished the boundary wall on Wednesday, claimed that they were just following court orders but the BSP leaders insisted that the Supreme Court had clearly maintained that the structure of the memorial should bot be interfered with.

Maurya said the BSP had appealed to the CM urging him not to demolish the boundary wall by writing to him on September 21. He said that a delegation had also spoken to the Chief Minister over the issue. “The CM had assured us that there would be no interference with the structure of the memorial but suddenly it was razed secretly, “ he stated.

The BSP leader announced that they would continue to agitate till the demolished wall was reconstructed or the CM assured them that it will be restored.”In fact, we talked to the CM today and he feigned that he knew nothing about the demolition process,” Maurya disclosed.

Measnwhile, SP spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary said that the SP had nothing to do with the issue as the government has taken the initiative on the directives of the court.

“Still, the CM was looking into it after being apprised. There would be no violation of court orders at any cost though,” Choudhury stressed.

In view of the BSP dharna, the security in and around the area was beefed up and additional forces were rushed to the Dr B R Ambedkar  Samajik and Parivartan Sthal.

ADG ( law and order) Daljeet Choudhary said that there was no threat to law and order in lucknow but if anyone takes law in their hands, they would be dealt with firmly.
