Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party Government, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati gave ‘zero’ number to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on law and order front and demanded a CBI probe into charges ofcorruption against state Mining Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati.
Giving ‘zero’ out of 100 for the works done by the Akhilesh Yadav Government in 2014, Mayawati said that law and order had reached such a low that women were afraid to come out of their houses even in daytime. “Uttar Pradesh is a fit case to impose President’s rule and the Governor should recommend it at the earliest,” Mayawati told reporters here on Saturday.
“If you ask me, I will give ‘zero’ out of 100 to the state Government because of its failure to control crime. This Government has failed people. If a girl can be raped inside a police station, it shows the prevailing lawlessness in Uttar Pradesh,” the BSP supremo said. She said corruption was rampant in the Samajwadi Party rule and ministers and legislators of the ruling party were busy in minting money.
“If the Chief Minister has clean intentions, he should recommend CBI probe against his Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati. Only the CBI can bring the truth to light,” she said. But when her attention was drawn to the corruption indulged in by Noida engineer Yadav Singh during her tenure in UP, the former Chief Minister blamed the present Samajwadi Party Government for giving him a clean chit.
“You ask the present Government about Yadav Singh because ministers are giving him political patronage,” she said. “It is the most insensitive Government that is not at all concerned about the plight of people. When poor are dying of cold, the whole Government is enjoying cultural programmes in Saifai,” the BSP chief said.
