Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has appointed Bhim Rajbhar as the new president of the party’s UP unit, replacing Munkad Ali.
Appointed state BSP chief in August last year, Ali had to face the axe ostensibly due to the party’s failure to win a single seat in the recently concluded UP Assembly bypolls.
Bhim Rajbhar is a native of Mau district and belongs to the Most Backward Class category. His appointment is aimed at bringing the MBCs closer to the BSP.
On Sunday, the BSP candidate in Deoria bypoll, Abhay Nath Tripathi, quit the party, alleging that it was pursuing wrong policies and also accused party coordinators of exploiting him mentally and financially.
