BSP Brahmin sammelan a flop show, say parties

Biswajeet, PNS

Opposition political parties have termed the Brahmin mahasammelan of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as a flop show saying Brahmins have not turned up for the rally.

Ruling Samajwadi Party claimed that the Brahmin mahasammelan was a total failure as it was an attempt by the BSP to divert attention of people from Government’s campaign against corrupt former BSP ministers.  "This rally was organized by the loot BSP government had gathered in her regime. The leaders who were on the dais were the same people who as ministers during BSP regime had looted public money," Samajwadi party spokesman and Food and Civil Supply Minister Rajendra Chaudhry said in a statement here on Sunday.

He said that Mayawati’s allegations against the state government were nothing new. She had been saying it for the last one year and today also she repeated the same charges. "Mayawati’s speech was a bundle of contradiction. On one hand she said that she would work for the welfare of upper caste while on the same breath she advocates reservation in promotion," Chadhry said.

The SP spokesman said people of the state are intelligent enough to read into the lies of BSP leaders. "The upper caste did not vote for BSP last time and this time too they will oppose Mayawati," he said. Another SP leader and UP minister of state for agriculture Manoj Kumar Pandey alleged that during the previous regime, the BSP government had harassed the brahmins by lodging fake cases against 15,000 Brahmins.

He also alleged that Brahmins were only given jobs of sweepers in the government while important posts were taken away by the family members Satish Chandra Mishra. The BJP spokesman Dr Manoj Mishra also called the rally as a flop show. He also said that Brahmins were missing from the show.
