A brief winter session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature has been convened here from Wednesday.

This will be the last session of the 17th UP Assembly as the state goes to poll early next year.

The session is likely to be a stormy one, with the opposition getting the last opportunity to counter the Yogi Adityanath government on all issues.

The session will be for three days from December 15 to 17.

Assembly secretariat officials said on Tuesday the first day of the session would be adjourned after condolence on the death of sitting Bahujan Samaj Party MLA and former Assembly Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar and death of the Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat.

On the second day on December 16, state Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna will lay the second supplementary budget for the current fiscal 2021-22. He will also table the finance bill seeking vote on account for the first four month of the next fiscal 2022-23. Both the finance bills -- the second supplementary and vote on accounts -- will be passed on December 17.

Meanwhile, UP Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit presided over a meeting of the business advisory committee of the assembly on Wednesday. The meeting approved the business of the House for the three-day session.

After the three-day session a group photo session of all the members of the assembly will also be held.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker Nitin Agarwal, leader of opposition Ram Govind Chowdhary; Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, several ministers and leaders of other political parties.
