The Bhartiya Janata Party slammed Samajwadi Party members for disrupting proceedings of the Assembly on the first day of the inaugural session of the House. The party said that the Opposition after its crushing defeat in the recent Assembly poll had lost its track and indulging in irresponsible behaviour detrimental to the dignity of the House.
Energy minister and governments spokesman Srikant Sharma said in lucknow on Monday that the government was working fast to improve the situation in all sectors of economy and the Opposition was unable to digest the Yogi government’s success even during a short stint.’’
``The main Opposition party is concerned only about a particular family. They have nothing to do with the people or other issues before the state. They are anti-people and anti- poor and unnerved by the BJP government’s success in benefiting different sections of the society particularly farmers and poor by farm loan waiver tantamount to Rs 36,000 crore,’’ said Sharma.
Refuting allegations of Opposition parties that law and order had deteriorated after the BJP government came to power, the minister said, “law and order is fine and the government has taken series of measures to tone up the situation. Those talking of law and order are creating anarchy inside the House.’’
Health minister Siddarth Nath Singh said, “Blowing of whistles inside the House is an unprecedented incident which lowers the dignity of the House and its members.’’
``The conduct of Samajwadi Party members in the House on Monday has reassured the people of the state that they did the right thing by voting out the Samajwadi Party and reducing its tally to a lowest ever 47. The people of the state on Monday saw glimpses of the goondaraj of Samajwadi Party,’’ said Singh.
The Health minister added, “The conduct of Samajwadi Party members in the House has shown to the people as to how they ran the government while in power in the state.’’
Samajwadi Party leader and the leader of Opposition in Assembly Ram Govind Chaudhary however defended the conduct of his legislators inside the House.
``The BJP did the same thing when we were in power. We were not protesting against the Governor or his address, we only wanted to hear from him about recent incidents of violence in Saharanpur and other places where Dalit and Muslims were targeted. In fact, BJP MP and MlAs have targeted the government officials and senior police officers. The Governor did not say a word about these incidents, hence we protested,’’ clarifid Chaudhary.
“The protest by SP MlAs was restrained and justified as the number of incidents of heinous crimes and caste and communal strife during the near-60 day tenure of Yogi government far outnumbers the total incidents of crime during the previous Samajwadi Party regime,’’ claimed he.
