BJP questions over the move of privatisation of power distribution

PNS

Objecting strongly to the proposal of hike in power tarrif, the state BJP has raised question marks over the move of privatisation of power distribution in some major cities in the state.State BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told media persons on Tuesday that it was unfortunate that the Chief Minister has given his nod to the proposal of power taiff hike which is entirely based on inconclusive facts and figures.

Pathak alleged that the SP government was ploiticising the power sector without any reason. " The SP had promised in its poll manifesto that rural areas would be supplied power for 20 hours while in urban areas it would be 22 hours. The fact however remains that only a select few districts are being accorded VIP treatment," he said.

The BJP leader also pointed out that the experiment of handing over power distribution in Agra failed to yield desired results and hence it is surprising to see the SP government persisting with the propoal of privatisation of distribution in more citites - a plan which was in fact prepared by the previous BSP regime.

" It is amply evident that instead of taking corrective measures to improve the power sector, the SP government was induging in delaying tactics and pursuing faulty policies," Pathak alleged
