BJP MlA Dr Radha Mohan Das Agarwal has shot off a letter to Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey over an insult meted out to him during an Indian Oil Corporation programme held in Gorakhpur on January 9.
Talking to reporters Dr Agarwal said during the function IOC official invited all the public representatives to sit on the dais except him.
‘’I kept sitting in the public but was not called to sit on the dais. This is an insult of the people’s
representative as per the traditions and norms,’’ he said in his letter to the Speaker.
Dr Agarwal, who is also the chief whip of the party in the assembly, is likely to send his complaint to President Pranab Mukherjee.
However, the BJP MlA spared the party, saying that it was the lapse of the IOC, which was organizing the programme in which Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was the chief guest.
‘’I have not lodged a complaint with the BJP leadership or with the Prime Minister as the programme was concerned with the petroleum ministry,’’ he said.
Political rivalry between Dr Agarwal and BJP MP from Gorakhpur Mahant Adityanath is well known and the incident could be the reason behind it as the MP was the guest of honour in the programme, sources said.
