The BJP legislature party has appealed to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to intervene and look into the problems of sugar mill owners who have threatened to disrupt the crushing season because of the losses they are facing.

In a letter to the CM , BJP legislature party leader Suresh Kumar Khanna said here that the announcement of the private sugar mills that they would not go for crushing this year, would certainly affect the four million cane growers of the state.

“There is an urgent need to examine the claims of the sugar mills about high rate of sugar and their losses. Besides government should see that at any cost all sugar mills start crushing on scheduled time,” Khanna said.

The BJP leader said that effort should be made from the government to provide all possible assistance to the mills so that they can run their units without sustaining any loss.

“If the state government has promised to provide Rs 9 per quintal subsidy to the mills, it should be implemented and the payment should be made directly to the cane farmers,” he added. Khanna said that government should not wait for a minute and deal the situation urgently.
