BJP leaders politicised Covid vaccine, free ration: Mayawati

PNS

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, accusing them of trying to make electoral gains on the Covid vaccine and free ration distribution during the ongoing elections, when it was the constitutional responsibility of any government in power.

On Friday, Mayawati tweeted, “The BJP leaders are trying to exploit free Corona vaccine and ration distributed amongst the people during lockdown just for the sake of electoral interest in  UP. It is the constitutional responsibility of a government to help its marooned citizens. This duty is not a favor to anyone.”

The BSP chief further tweeted, “What a strange politics is being played by the BJP that after snatching employment and closure of many business establishments, they are not talking of it but making a propaganda of free ration and free vaccine distribution during its poll campaign.”

Voting for the seventh and final phase of the Assembly elections will be cast on March 7 for electing representatives from 54 constituencies across nine districts of the eastern parts of the  state. Campaigning for this phase of the poll will end on Saturday evening.

Prior to this, political parties have engaged in a fierce trading of charges and important leaders from various parties are also camping in Varanasi, the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
