Taking a jibe at the BJP over the induction of former BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya, the ruling Samajwadi Party said that at a time when the party was faced with leadership crisis and was unable to name a CM face, it had added to its woes by importing another leader who is of the stature of its state chief Keshav Maurya.
SP spokesman Rajenndra Chaudhary said on Wednesday that state BJP leaders were compelled to `welcome’ the imported leader. Butin the pocess has accentuated its problems as the party has been struggling to cope with factionalism and internecine battle within.
Chaudhary said that the BJP leaders cannot mislead the people of the state by gimmicks and antics as they have never fought for the interest of the people.
Poking fun at Congress attempts at resurrectiung itself in UP after 27 years of political exile, the SP leader said, ``Congress is visibly desperate and it’s unable to hide its desperation.”
He said that the Congress’ CM candidate Sheila Dikshit gave a strange slogan to party cadre asking them ``Karo Ya Maro’ (do or die). He said that for the last three decades, the party has been almost absent from the political scene of UP. They did nothing and lost connect with the people.
“In the given situation, it is anybody’s guess on how far the tired, retired and defeated leaders like Sheila Dikshit could engineer the revival of Congress in UP.”
