Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of pursuing vendetta politics against SP workers running relief operations in districts.
Akhilesh said that the police registered FIR against Samajwadi Party workers for “committing the crime of distributing food and other relief material to the people in distress”.
He said, “SP workers are being booked by the BJP government for distributing ration and helping people in this hour of crisis. This is inhuman and condemnable.”
“Daily review of relief work by top echelons of the government will make no material change at ground level. The chief minister and Team 11 will have to establish direct contact with people on the streets. Officials should go to areas inhibited by the poor and make on-spot verification of relief work done by government agencies,” the SP chief said in a release issued in Lucknow on Monday.
