Uttar Pradesh MSME Minister and government spokesman Sidharth Nath Singh on Sunday made light of the promise of 22 lakh jobs in the information technology (IT) sector made by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav if his party was voted to power.

In a statement, Singh said that while there was no harm in Yadav’s “Mungeri Lal dreams”, he pointed out how the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state had already  brought in huge investment in the state in the IT sector.

This, he added, was spurring the economy of the state and generating unprecedented and like never before job opportunities.

To buttress his claims, the minister pointed out that in the incumbent BJP regime, an investment of Rs 17,927 crore had been made in the data centres in UP.

The minister went on to detail these investments and said that M/s Adani Enterprises Ltd was setting up two data centres in the state at a cost of Rs 2473 and Rs 2173 crore in sectors 62 and 80 of Noida.

Similarly, he said, NIDP Developers Pvt Ltd (Hiranandani Group) was setting up a data centre worth Rs 1697 crore at the Knowledge Park in Greater Noida besides NTT Global Data Centres (Rs 1,687 crore), Web Werks India Pvt Ltd (Rs 197 crore) in Sector 63, Noida.

Singh also added that there were many more like RBDC Pte (Sing) Ltd, Indospace Capital Advisors, Brookfield Asset Management, Sify Technologies, STT GDC India, Mantra Data Centres and CTRLS Data Centres Ltd who had set up shops in the state.

The state government, the minister underlined, had a clear focus to make UP a front-ranking state in India and to generate more and more employment for the youth.

Sidharth Nath Singh further said that while Akhilesh Yadav was all hype and claims, the BJP government had worked on the ground and made dreams a reality.

“Our government has shown that commitments made to the people can be fulfilled if there is a steel will and a sense of responsibility,” he said while poking fun at the claims of Akhilesh Yadav on job creation.
