BJP flays Govt over drive against JE

PNS

Accusing the Akhilesh Yadav regime of neglecting the lives ofchildren, the Bharatiya Janata Party state unit said that the state Government was not serious on tackling the menace of encephalitis that has killed thousands of kids in the eastern part of the state in the last one decade. This season, the deadly disease has started knocking at the doors of the Purvanchal. Over 100 children have died from this disease so far

and the doctors have predicted this year to be lethal but the state government is yet to take preventive measures,” BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in a statement issued here on Wednesday. Pathak said the present state Government was only working in knee-jerk reaction. “This government acts only when the crisis deepens and reaches the point of no return...

The death of children because of encephalitis is no secret. Children up to the age of 15 years are dying of JE (Japanese encephalitis) and  ES (Acute Encephalitis Syndrome) on regular basis. Why has the Government not acted so farIJ” Pathak sked. “The Chief Secretary of the state has admitted that vaccination drive against the deadly JE is yet to take up pace. As per his own admission, in 20 districts the pace of vaccination is pathetic,” Pathak said and added: “If the senior most bureaucrat of the state is not happy with the progress of vaccination, what is the state of affairs is any body’s guess.

The BJP state spokesman said that according to doctors, encephalitis gets a foothold with the onset of monsoon in June. “It is almost July but the vaccination drive is yet to pick up pace. This shows this government is more interested in earning political points by distributing laptops than saving lives of children,” the BJP state spokesman said.
