BJP dividing society on religious lines: Mulayam

Biswajeet, PNS

Attacking BJP the Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the saffron party had divided society on religious lines for political gain and only SP can stop the nefarious designs of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Addressing an election rally in Sambhal on Monday he said that SP had defeated communal forces in the past and will do so in the future. “The BJP leaders have spread a canard that there is a wave in favour of their prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. But where is the wave. I cannot see the wave. This party thrives only on the mis-information campaign and we have to stay away from this,” Yadav said.

He said that so-called Gujarat Model of development is a farce. “There is no development model like that. Uttar Pradesh has done much better than Gujarat. What we did in just two years no other Government can think of doing it in five years,” he said.

“Children are dieing of malnutrition in Gujarat. Over 90 per cent of the men and 85 per cent of the women are working as labourers. Modi should tell whether his government give free treatment to people and provide scholarship to girls,” he asked and said: “We do it in Uttar Pradesh.”

“I appeal to people to vote for Samajwadi Party so that a secular Third Front can form the government post-lok Sabha election,” he said.

Samajwadi party has fielded Shafiqur Rahman Burq from Sambhal, the constituency that will go to polls on April 17.
