UP Minister’s suggestions asking students not to recite the word Ram that can ruin their future has irked BJP leaders as they demanded that CM should immediately sack him saying minister’s statement was against majority community. “The minister should be sacked immediately as he has insulted the majority community by asking students not to take the name of lord Ram. How can a minister offer suggestions on religious lines,” BJP spokesman Vijay bahadur Pathak said in a statement issued here on Friday.

He also demanded an clarification from the CM, who was present during the function when Minister has made that statement. UP Minister of State for Secondary Education Vijay Bahadur Pal had suggested that if students recite the name of Ram it will ruin their future. He made this statement during laptop distribution function in which Chief Minister was also present.

“UP minister says that taking the name of Ram will ruin the students’ future but what will happen to the people who chant ‘ Ram Nam’ in temple and or during death of a person. Now the minister would say that future of those people attending funeral will also be ruined,” he said and demanded sacking of minister.

The minister at a function to distribute free laptops to meritorious students of ICSE, CBSE and UP Board in the state capital said, “Suno meri baat, agar tum chillaye baar baar Ram naam, to ho jayega kaam tamam (If you recite the name of Ram again and again, it is going to ruin you).” later, Pal clarified saying: “I respect lord Ram, who had gone on vanvas and had faced many hardships. All I wanted was to caution students against superstition. I wanted to tell them they would get good marks by studying hard not by chanting lord Ram’s name,” he said.
