With many Bharatiya Janta Party MPs and MlAs belonging to Dalit community already raised open voice against the senior leaders of the Party, Congress President Rahul Gandhi tried to grab the opportunity by returning back to dalit agenda.
On Wednesday, he held a chaupal at Tekari Dadu village under Salon assembly segment on of Parliament, which was dominated by the dalit community.
Interestingly Rahul also helped his mother Sonia Gandhi, also in Rae Bareli since Tuesday evening, to hold meeting and listen to the public woes in Bhue Mau guest house on Wednesdaymorning. later mother and son fly back to New Delhi from Fursatganj airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Reports said that Rahul Gandhi went around the Tekari Dadu village and almost reached all the houses belongings to dalits to know the well being of the people. He also gave a patience hearing to the problem of the people during the chaupal. The villagers elated with the visit of the Congress president in their houses raised ' Rahul Gandhi and Congress Jindabad' slogans. The Amethi MP also talked to the students of the secondary school in the village and knew what they want to be in their life. The students also questioned Rahul about politics and everything. Salon though comes under Rae Bareli district, is the assembly segment of the Amethi Parliamentary constituency.
Meanwhile, UPA president Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the district passport office at the head post office premises in Rae Bareli on Wednesday afternoon. later she along with Rae Bareli MlA Aditi Singh attended the district development coordination and monitoring committee meeting at the collectorate.
Earlier in the day, a Janta Durbar was held at the Bhue Mau guest house where the Gandhi family was staying. Since Sonia Gandhi was not feeling well since the morning so she left but Rahul met over 1000 persons in groups and listen to their woes and promised of necessary action. Many of the visitors put their personal demands but a delegation of sportsman, demanded to set-up multi-purpose sports complex in Jagdishpur so that the local lads would get good facility for training. Sonia also inaugurated several development projects to the tune of over Rs 75 crore in her Rae Bareli Parliamentary constituency under her MPlAD and PMSJY scheme at the guest house.
Sources said that many local leaders met Sonia and Rahul and expressed their concern about the reported anti-party activities of MlA Dinesh Pratap Singh and his two brothers-- the Congress MlA from Harchandpur Rakesh Singh and district panchayat chairman Awadhesh Singh. These rebel Congress legislators are slated to join the BJP during a rally in the district on April 21, to be attended by BJP president Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
