BJP bring 'Sankalp Patra' for local Bodies elections

PNS

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party will bring out a 'Sankalp Patra' or election manifesto for the Urban local Bodies elections focussing from toilet to gaushala.

The Sankalp Patra is likely to be released by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with state party chief Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey and UP in-charge Om Prakash Mathur on Sunday. It will have 18 sections incorporating problems that cities were facing.

A BJP leader told 'The Pioneer' that the Sankalp Patra will veer around all civic problems with focus from toilet to gaushala. “It may be a laughing matter but it is a fact that urban areas do not have enough toilets forcing people to urinate in the open. For women, the BJP wishes to start pink toilets which will be manned by women employees of Nagar Nigam or its operation could be given to private operators,” he said.

"Besides, after ban on slaughter houses, people have thrown out cows on the streets which were creating traffic problems. For that the BJP was committed to set up gaushalas like Kanha Upvan," he said adding that emphasis of the manifesto would be to keep the city clean.

Through the Sankalp Patra, the BJP will also talk about collection of taxes digitally and provide hawking space for street vendors.

“The Sankalp Patra will talk about changing the face of cities. The basic facts remain the same but different characteristics of cities will be incorporated in the manifesto,” he said.

The three-phase UlB elections will be held from November 22 to 29. As per the schedule, 24 districts will go to polls on November 22, 25 districts on November 26 and 26 districts on November 29.  Counting of votes polled for 16 nagar nigams, 198 nagar palika parishads and 438 nagar panchayats will be done on December 1.

More than 3.32 crore voters will be eligible to cast their ballots at 36,269 polling booths and 11,389 polling stations.
