BJP blames cong for GST bill delay

PNS

Blaming Congress for the complete washout of the Monsoon session of the Parliament senior BJP leader and union Minister for Environment Prakash Javadekar said that GST Bill would be passed as the “government has required number on this issue”.

“It is unfortunate that the party like Congress has stalled Parliament to stop passage for pro-people GST. It was because of them the Bill could not be passed in Rajya sabha. But mark my words the GST will be passed and it will be operational by April, 2016,” Javadekar told reporters here on Friday.

He said that the Government has decided to go for a special monsoon session later this month when GST would be passed in the Parliament. “We have got support of like-minded parties on the GST issue. The Bill will sail through in Rajya Sabha," the Union Minister said.

He said during UPA time the then Finance Minister P Chidambaram had shown his government’s commitment to implement GST in the country. Even Congress-led state government had supported the GST then. But now Congress is speaking on a different tone. This shows that Congress’ opposition to GST was anti-development, he said.

The BJP leader was very critical on the role of the Congress and alleged that  44 of its members held the Parliament to ransom. “The Congress had the British mentality. The party believed that it cannot be thrown out of power but once it is out of power and knows that it cannot return to power in next 15 years it is creating such drama,” he said and termed the Sonia Gandhi led party as anti-people and anti-country.

He said before the start of the Monsoon session Congress leaders spoke about raising various issues. Once session started it floated Sushma Swaraj balloon but it deflated. The Congress even tried to raise Vyapam and Rajasthan issues but could not get enough support from other parties. In that scenario Congress decided to stall the proceedings, he said.

“The BJP will now go across the country and tell people about the anti-people policies of the Congress. We will now expose them and tell masses as how Congress is committed only to highlight Gandhi family. For Congress the aim is only to save Gandhis while BJP is committed to save the country,” he said.

Talking about the Yadav Singh corruption issue he clarified that Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley has not given clean chit to Samajwadi party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav. “The CBI will probe into the matter impartially,” he said.
