BJP, SP playing politics of polarisation: Priyanka

PNS

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party government and Samajwadi Party for playing politics of polarisation and stressed that it was imperative that elections were fought only on the issue of development.

She further said that women should vote as a separate political entity and it was time to understand their rights and demand their rightful place in politics.

Taking a dig at the BJP and SP, Priyanka Vadra said that both parties preferred polarisation ahead of the polls as it strengthened their vote bank.

“To prevent the BJP or SP from taking advantage of polarisation, the people of the state need to be given an alternative to different types of politics,” she opined.

On Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath contesting from Gorakhpur Sadar constituency, the Congress leader said that the BJP leadership wanted to reduce his stature.

Meanwhile, Congress reacted strongly to senior party leader from UP, RPN Singh, joining the BJP on Tuesday.

Reacting to the development, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said, “The battle which the Congress has been fighting is a difficult one in nature. This can be fought only with courage, with valor and with bravery. The Congress is fighting this battle against the arrogant BJP government, its arrogance, its agencies, capitalism and all kinds of stigma. This is a fight for the truth. Our party's general secretary and UP Congress in-charge Priyanka Gandhi says that we cannot fight this battle with cowardice. So wherever RPN Singh is going, we wish him luck.”

Shrinet further said that the fight of Congress against the BJP was ideological, theoretical and true.

“I don't think a person can go to a party with a totally opposite ideology after being with the Congress for years. Congress has been fighting this battle and will continue to do so. The BJP government is now feeling the fear of defeat, because the people of the country and the state have now become troubled, tired, bored due to the policies of the BJP. The pot of the policies of this government has been filled. The day is not far when the people of the country and the state will throw them out of power,” she said.
