The 55 days old Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh got a jolt on Sunday as the ruling party MlA from Ballia issued statement against the chief minister and staged dharna.
Surendra Pratap Singh, first time BJP MlA from Beria seat also threatened to go for hunger strike from May 24 if his demands were not met.
The MlA led a human chain on National Highway-31 on Saturday along with the flood affected people of his assembly constituency for two hours.
Talking to media here on Sunday the MlA Surendra Pratap Singh alleged that the state government has done nothing to protect the villages in his constituency from the floods.
He said the irrigation department is aware of the problem that his constituency is a flood prone area and several thousand families get displaced due to floods in Ganga and Ghagra rivers.
"Government has sanctioned Rs 29 crores for the flood protection projects, but the work is yet to begin as the officials of the irrigation department were more interested plundering the public money rather utilising it for the intended purpose. The MlA said `` I had met CM Yogi Adityanth and the irrigation minister Dharmpal Singh but nothing has happened so far," .
Surendra Singh, commenting on CM Yogi Adityanath, said that CM has failed to implement the projects and he went to the extent of saying that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is far better than his UP counterpart.
“I will wait for a week time and even if the work did not start by then, then I have no other option but to sit on a hunger strike," he said while adding that he is ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of the common people of his constituency.
