Babri mosque demolition not conspiracy but a 'will' of the people: VHP

Claiming that the demolition of Babri mosque was not a conspiracy but a 'will' of the people. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has questioned the intention of  Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on whose petition the Supreme Court ordered a probe against 13 BJP and VHP leaders on the Ayodhya demolition case.

"The incident of December 6, 1992 was not a conspiracy but a result of public unrest. Conspiracy is always hatched inside a room but the demolition of the disputed structure was done by Ram bhakt karseveks in the open," said VHP regional media in-charge Sharad Sharma in a written statement issued on Wednesday.

Though maintaining that the SC ruling would be examined by legal experts, but Sharma questioned the role of CBI in the entire issue.

"Million of Indians have faith in lord Rama and they want a grand temple at Ayodhya. Hundreds have even sacrificed their lives for the cause and thousands were still waiting to see the temple in their life time. Instead, the CBI has made these BJP and VHP leaders conspirators which is unfortunate," he said.

Sharma said that the incident of December 6,1992 was due to firing on the Ram bhakts.

"But we have full faith in the judicial system and are hopeful that all the accused leaders would be freed from the charges," he further said.

The VHP leader also said that Union minister Uma Bharati would be visiting Ayodhya on Thursday. "She was slated to visit Ayodhya last week but postponed it at the last moment," he said. Bharati is among the 13 leaders against whom the SC has ordered to start trial in the Ayodhya demolition case.
