Stirring a new controversy a senior minister in the Uttar Pradesh Government Md Azam Khan held Unnao MP Shakshi Maharaj responsible for recovery of such a large number of dead bodies from Ganga saying BJP leader had thrown those bodies in river to create communal disturbance.‘Sakshi Maharaj brought these bodies in trucks to Unnao and threw them in Ganga to create communal disturbances,’ Khan said in a statement here on Thursday.
Khan, who is also the Muslim face of the party, said that BJP was trying to malign the image of the Samajwadi Party government hence its leader has throwing the bodies in the river. “There is a political design behind this motive. The BJP wants to foment communal hatred for political gains,” Khan said and added: “Shakshi Maharaj should tell people from where he got such a large number of bodies.
Over 100 bodies were seen floating at Pariyar Ghat in Unnao early this week creating consternation among the villagers. All these bodies were badly mutilated and were not fit for autopsy. It was believed that these were the bodied of unwed girls and kids who died prematurely and the bodies were given water burial. After taking DNA samples the bodies have been buried at the bank of river to prevent spread of any communicable disease.
He said that those who had promised to clean the Ganga are polluting it with dead bodies. “Union Government has launched a project to clean Ganga. The BJP leadership has even named it Namami Gange. But party’s own MPs do not have respect for government’s projects. They are themselves polluting this mighty river by throwing dead bodies in it,” he said.
Khan also demanded resignation of Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhar Abbas Naqvi after he was given one year jail term in a case in Rampur yesterday.Questioning the political morality of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP Minister said that when a minister has been convicted in a criminal act he should resign. It is up to Prime Minister to ensure that Naqvi should quit the cabinet.
“Naqvi should resign on moral grounds and if he does not then PM should seek resignation from the minister,” he said and added that the party will stage a protest against the minister.Naqvi belongs to Rampur, the district in western Uttar Pradesh represented by Azam Khan in the state assembly.
