The disclosure of his marital status by Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has created political ripples with Samajwadi Party leader and Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azam Khan demanding dismissal of Gujarat Chief Minister for hiding facts about his marriage in the affidavit filed during the Assembly elections.

“When a leader aiming to become the prime minister of the country can hide such an important information for becoming chief minister, he can do all wrongs to become the premier,” Azam Khan said while addressing an election meeting in the Nagina parliamentary constituency in Bijnor district on Friday. Urging the Election Commission to take cognisance of the wrong facts disclosed by Modi during Gujarat Assembly elections, the SP leader said the act of the BJP leader was an insult to all the women of the country. “Hiding his marriage was a big lapse on the part of Modi,” he said. The SP leader claimed that Samajwadi Party would win the maximum number of seats in Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing election. “The Samajwadi Party has worked for the welfare of people. Our government has carried out development projects and has fulfilled almost all the promises that were made during the Assembly election,” he said. Criticising his rival Amit Shah, the Samajwadi Party leader said that when the Gujarat leader could not even save hair on his head, how would he take revenge as he said in his speech for which the Election Commission served notice to him. The SP leader also attacked the national media by saying that it had sold out to Narendra Modi.  “Some channels are showing only Modi. They are showing riots in Muzaffarnagar but are silent on the good work done by Akhilesh Government,” he said.Khan had recently courted controversy by saying that Kargil war was won by Muslims.
