Ayodhya issue: Both sides engaged in talks

Ayodhya is suddenly abuzz with activities, with plaintiffs of both Hindu and Muslim sides in the dispute claiming to be engaged in talks to thrash out an amicable solution to the Ram temple issue to end the decade old tussle.

Sant Paramhans, who recently went on an indefinite hunger strike and had to be admitted to the SGPGI in Lucknow, met Muslim plaintiff Iqbal Ansari at Ayodhya at the latter’s residence on Wednesday night. The Paramhans gifted to Ansari copies of Ramcharitra Manas and Sudha Sagar before discussing the vexed issue after the Supreme Court deferred the hearing on the Ayodhya issue till January next year.

Later, talking to media persons, Ansari said that he had no acrimony with Hindu saints. “It is simple. I am fighting a case on behalf of my community in the court of law. Outside the court, we are united. It is a fight between a temple and a mosque and not between Hindus and Muslims, as is being projected by the media. Both sides want an amicable solution to the dispute and if it is reached through dialogue, it will definitely be better. But if we fail, both sides will abide by the court verdict,” he said.

On the other hand, Sant Paramhans said that he had gone to Ansari’s home to wish him for Diwali, keeping alive the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the temple town.

“We spoke for resolving the issue through mutual agreement. Ansari has proposed a good solution which will be disclosed later on,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ayodhya was all decked up for Diwali celebration, when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend a Deepotsava programme to be held on November 6.

Shiv Sena chief Udhav Thakre is also expected to go for a darshan of Ram Lalla on November 25.
