Attacked with Acid in lucknow

PNS

Police are baffled at another acid attack on the Unchahar of Rae Bareli district native woman at her hostel in Aliganj on Saturday night. She was allegedly forced to drink acid on board a lucknow bound train on March 23 and in wake of her safety the state government had provided her a security cover consisting of two gunners.

“We sent a team of experts from Forensic to inspect the spot. But no trace of substance like acid was recovered from the scene. The hostel superintendent also is unaware of the attack. The staff is also nonplussed and her gunners who were present at the gate near the place of attack also have no clue about the attackers,” SSP lucknow Deepak Kumar said.

He said the police did not find any clue of throwing of acid on her despite an intense examination of the place where she was attacked. “The doctors are yet to conclude if the liquid thrown on her was an acid,’ he added.

The SSP said the woman did not lodge any complaint as yet. “We talked to her husband and asked him if he wanted to lodge a case. But he is yet to decide the same,’ he said.

About the possible suspects, he said the persons, who earlier were accused of forcing her to drink acid while on board a train, were present at their houses. “In fact a police team was sent immediately at their house to detain them. The incident was reported at around 8 pm on Saturday and the possible suspects were picked from their houses at around 8.45 PM. In the light of these facts, it was practically not possible for them to attack the victim in lucknow and then reach Unchahar,’ he said.

He said the police was working on the case and examining the footages of the CCTV. “We have not got any eyewitness, any supporting clue or any clinching evidence which pointed that the woman was attacked by acid on Saturday night,” he explained.

The woman was attacked on Saturday night at her hostel (near Navin Galla Mandi locality of Aliganj) where she is putting up these days. After a similar attack was made on her on board a lucknow bound passenger train on March 23, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited the trauma centre where she was admitted after the attack and later had provided her security cover.

She works with lucknow’s Sheroes Hangout Cafe, (an institute that was set up by activists to empower acid attack survivors across the state). As per her claim, she was standing near the washroom at the Shramjeevi Hostel and was talking on her phone when she was attacked.

The place of incident is close to the boundary wall which is of high and it is not possible for any person(s) to throw acid scaling the same.

After the attack she was rushed to Trauma Centre of KGMU where she was under treatment. The doctors attending her had told that she suffered burns probably by some liquid like acid and was out of danger. The woman suffered injuries at the right of her face and the acid flow down through her neck and stomach. It surfaced that her previous allegation that she was forced to drink acid while board the train on March 23, could not be proved in medical test.

The victim earlier was attacked again on March 23 when she was forced to drink corrosive liquid by unidentified persons, on board the train, while returning to lucknow from her village. She has previously been a victim of multiple crimes including alleged gang-rape and attempt to murder. After the acid attack on board the train, she had been admitted to the ICU at KGMU Trauma centre soon after where her condition was said to be stable.
