The efforts of the Samajwadi Party Government to invite investments may bear fruits as industry body ASSOCHAM has predicted around Rs 3 lakh crore investments in Uttar Pradesh in this fiscal. These estimates are projected in ASSOCHAM’s report titled ‘UP: Inching towards double digit growth’, that was released by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here on Monday.

“Our pro-industry policies have started showing results. The industrial units that had earlier shifted to neighbouring states are now planning to return to UP. This has given us confidence and the Government is willing to extend more facilities to these industries,” Yadav said at that function.

The ASSOCHAM claims that Uttar Pradesh has attracted investments of Rs 6.9 lakh crore in the last two years and an additional investment of Rs 3 lakh crore is expected by the end of this fiscal year. Majority of the investments are in medium and small industries. The Chief Minister said that his Government was open to ideas on boosting investments.

“If industrial houses give us suggestions, we are ready to work on them,” he said, and added, “The government is working to improve infrastructure by building roads and generating more electricity. The Samajwadi Party Government wants to build conducive atmosphere for growth and is working in this direction.” The confidence of investors is on the upswing. And if the state continues to progress like this, it will set an example for others. ASSOCHAM chairman lalit Khaitan said that UP had made several remarkable achievements on development front, and these had been highlighted in studies carried out by various independent agencies and even the industry body.

The ASSOCHAM report says that Uttar Pradesh has made qualitative progress in agriculture, infrastructure, construction, small industries, power, education, health, realty and other sectors. It even suggests that Uttar Pradesh can give a tough fight to China as the state has all the resources to match Chinese influence.
