A day after getting elected as the Samajwadi party member of the Rajya Sabha Amar Sing came out in spirited defence of his mentor and senior Samajwadi party leader and PWD minister Shivpal Yadav. The minister is in the line of fire over his alleged involvement in aiding and abetting the encroachment on the government land in Jawaharbagh in Mathura district.
The wily Thakur who has been elected for the fourth time as Rajya Sabha member from the SP attacked the BJP president and Union home minister Rajnath Singh for targeting Shivpal Yadav over Mathura incident. Amar Singh said ``Shivpal Yadav cannot be held accountable for the Mathura incident and he never had any links with the cult leader Ramvriksh Yadav’’.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday Amar Singh invoked the caste credentials of Shivpal Yadav saying ``he is being targeted for being a OBCs from Yadav community, we are OBCs we can neither defend ourselves nor can do the self marketing and also cannot give the certificate of our innocence’’. Over two dozen persons including SP (City) of Mathura and a Station officer were killed in Mathura when the police launched an operation on June 2 to evict the cult leader Ram Vriksh Yadav who was said to be a follower of Baba Jai Gurudev.
Without naming the BJP president Amit Shah, the SP leader said `` an argumentative chaos is on for over a week where a senior BJP leader fond of speaking in unparliamentarily language has levelled baseless allegations against Shivpal Yadav. The BJP and the other parties instead of criticising the state government for the Jawaharbagh operation in Mathura should complement the state government for evicting the squatters from the Jawaharbagh in Mathura with the use of minimum force minimum loss of lives’’, He added `` it was not like `Operation Bluestar’ where the water , food and electricity supply was cut and the militants were either smoked out or eliminated, there were women and children in Jawaharbagh and the use of brute force to evict them was not a prudent option’’.
Criticising the Union Home minister Rajnath Singh, the SP leader said`` the Mathura incident is not confined to UP alone. Rajnath Singh is the MP from UP and home minister and the people with naxal links from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh had assembled in Mathura but UP government never got an advisory from the Intelligence Bureau which is under the control of Rajnath Singh’’. He added: "We never expected criticism from Rajnath Singh, how can you say whatever you like for the sake of politics over Mathura incident, it’s not fair politics’’.’
"UP government can be faulted for the Mathura incident if it failed in taking timely action on the alert sounded by the Centre but we never got a word from the Union home ministry’’, said Amar Singh adding `` UP government only implemented the order of the Allahabad high court and used minimum force for preventing the causalities yet we are bring criticised and all kinds of charges are being levelled against the government and PWD minister Shivpal Yadav’’.
"Those demanding the resignation of Shivpal Ydav never said a word about the rapes during the Jat agitation in Haryana, killing under Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh and killing of the entire top leadership of the Congress in Chhattisgarh where Vidya Charan Shukla and other senior Congress leaders were killed and also the violence in Gujarat during the reservation stir by the Patel community’’, said Amar Singh adding `` none sked for the resignation of . Manohar lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Raman Singh and Anadiben Patel’’.
He said the Samajwadi party government was maligned by the political parties and the media over the Badaun rape incident in 2014 where leaders from all parties including Mayawati, Rahul Gandhi and Ramvilas Paswan made a beeline to that village. He said later the CBI inquiry gave a clean chit to the UP government but that news story never found prominent display in the media.
Amar Singh also sought to corner the BJP MP from Mathura Hema Malani. `` What she did in the last two years, did she ever wrote a letter to the UP government on jawaharbagh issue. How concerned she was for her constituency is evident from the fact that on June2, the day of incident she was shooting for a film in Mumbai where she is performing the role of VijayrRaje Scindia’’.
On the recent five nation tour by the prime minister narendra Modi and possible entry of India in Nuclear suppliers group (NSG), Amar Singh said `` its the SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav who is the architect of the India’s status as nuclear power as the SP had supported the Indo-US Nuclear deal and then the Modi and the BJP had launched a nationwide agitation against the deal’’.
"In 2008, the BJP along with China and Pakistan had opposed the N deal, today Modi is basking under the glory of India’s status as nuclear state’’, said the SP leader.
