Former chief minister and Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav targeted the UP governor Ram naik on Tuesday accusing him of maintaining studied silence over the present state of affairs in the state. He said the law and order is in shambles and the BJP MlA accused of gang rape and murder of the father of the rape victim is roaming free under the government’s protection.  Akhilesh Yadav said despite the series of serious incidents of crime the Governor has chosen to remain silent.

"Raj Bhawan aajkal Khamosh hai (The governors house is silent these days). During the previous Samajwadi party regime the Governor was hyper active and used to make critical comments about my government on daily basis. The Governor seems to be highly satisfied with the present state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh and finds nothing wrong’’, said Akhilesh Yadav here on Tuesday  while addressing a party meeting  at the state office of the Samajwadi party.

Accusing the BJP of pursuing a hidden agenda to create caste and communal discord in society for narrow political ends SP Presidents said `` the coming together of the SP and Bahujan Samaj Party has unnerved the BJP and tone and tenor of the ruling party leaders has radically changed and most of them are speaking in intemperate language against the two parties and the alliance’’.

"BJP is still nursing its wound it got from its crushing defeat in by elections to Gorakhpur and Phulpur lok Sabha seats. They are yet to come to terms with the ground reality that they have lost the support of the common people  so they have stepped up the misinformation campaign against the SP and the BSP with an objective of influencing the 2019 lok Sabha elections’’, alleged the SP President. He cautioned the party leaders against what he called ``the dangerous cocktail of religion and politics’ being injected by the BJP in the body politic of the country.
